Address the following statements with short essays. Essays should not exceed 400 words each. Write a brief autobiography, explaining how your experiences have influenced your decision to pursue a career in the arts. Creativity holds enormous power to impact change. It is particularly important to communicate your commitment to the arts and your intention to give back to the community at large. In the future, how do you see yourself – as an artist – contributing to the community at large? Section 3 – Portfolio The portfolio of work you submit must be in the discipline in which you are pursuing a degree. Portfolios become the property of Folsom Patrons of the Arts and will not be returned. Do NOT include original works of art. All Applicants – Include a recent photograph (digital photographs are preferred). Scholarship recipient’s photo will be used for promotional purposes. Photos must be appropriate for use in press releases and website announcements. Visual Artists – Visual artists should submit photographs, prints, copies, or digital files of at least 6 examples of artwork created in the past 12 months. Digital files should be provided on CDs viewable on PCs. Acceptable file types are: .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .psd, .pdf. Original artwork cannot be returned. Students of Film/Video or Animation may provide samples using QuickTime files with a .mov file extension. Performing Artists – Performing artists should submit CDs or DVDs with at least 2 video or audio samples demonstrating your talent. Samples should be no longer than 5 minutes each and must have been created in the past 12 months. For artists who perform as part of a group or ensemble, at least one sample must be a solo performance. Section 4 – Letters of Recommendation All applications must include at least two letters of recommendation from references familiar with your talent and character. In addition, please list the names, titles, and telephone numbers of your references.
